I am an advocate of art.
Now, some of you might ask what art is, some of you may answer that by saying something like a painting, or music; the real
answer is far different. I define art as anything that inspires an emotional response. What people would think
as the “norm” such as paintings, sculptures, and music fall under that definition, but art is so much more.
Snuggling with your sweetheart and
feeling the swelling in your heart while watching a sunset? That is art. Watching a lightning storm and feeling
the shaking of the house rouse your fear? That is art. Yes, I believe that even things that can cause a negative
emotion are art. The inspiration of emotion is the very essence of art, no matter what the form and no matter what the
emotion.
I am an advocate of emotion.
From as long as I can remember I’ve been drawing little doodles, reading books, and listening to music that made me
smile, made me sad, made me excited and made me cry. Before I even defined art by what invokes emotion, I was immersed
in it. As I read more, I started to write. As I drew more, I became better at it. I recently found a new
calling in sculpting from polymer clay and starting my “Squee” line of figures. I plan to expand this into
stickers, key chains and eventually clothing. I dare you to look at my art and not smile, and that smile? That’s
what makes it art.
I am an advocate of art.
